New kitchen..part 2

They finished our kitchen and it looks great. I am so excited that they where able to get it done before we moved in. I was really worried that I would be moving into a constriction zone. I will post pictures when I get them. We are moving in this Sat and headed to Utah next fri ( not tomorrow ). Busy, busy, busy. I am also very excited that my sister is going to be moving in with us. I think that this is going to be a great opportunity for her, and I will have family here.

New kitchen

We are moving in one week and last Friday My boss told me that they where going to redo on kitchen. We where only going to get new flooring but when they went to put them in they thought that the whole kitchen needed redoing. They tell me it will be done by Tuesday, but I don't know. I am excited to get a new kitchen, but I am not sure why they waited till the week we are going to move in to do it.

This is what my kitchen looks like now. When it is done I will post pictures.

The stress of moving

I can not tell you how much I hate to move. I am excited to be in a new place, but I hate to pack everything up. As a child I never moved, not until i was married. I don't know how some people do it. I will just be happy when this is over. I am very lucky that some of the people from our Ward are coming over to help.

The worst thing about this move is that we have two weeks to be out, then the next day we are headed to Utah for 10 days. At least my mom and sister are coming home with me and they can help me unpack. Isn't that what family is for. Wish me luck.

Christmas party part 2

Here are some more pictures from our ward Christmas party. One of the ward members thought it would be funny to stick his head in. I love the ward we are in and I am very sad to be leaving it, only two more Sundays.

Christmas party

We had our Ward Christmas party last night and it was so fun. Edison sat on Santa 's lap for the first time, and as you can see he cried. He did get a bag of candy for his troubles.

Edison had a hard time staying still, so we had to hold him so he would be quiet. As you can see Byran became quite inventive.

Dinner was really good and the primary kids put on the Christmas Story. We had such a great time. I am very sad that we are leaving this ward. This was our first war when we moved here and they are like our family. Our Primary class is very sad we are not going to be there teachers any more.

I love Ikea

We went to Ikea last weekend and found Edison a hi-chair for $12. It is not the fanciest , but it works for us. He loves to set it in and play, eat, play while he eats. Byran was very excited that we can let Edison get messy and it's a easy clean up.

Adventures with Edison

Edison found a new hat.

Edison is be coming more and more mobile. It is heard for us to keep up with him.

Land of the lost

We noticed the Edison was running out of pacifiers. We moved his bed and found this. I guess he would rather play with them then have it in his mouth.

He found his tounge!

Edison has found his tounge. It is so cute, I will stick out mine and he dose the same. These are the times I love being a mom. These little milestones are the best. He is also staring to stand on his own and will dance with music. I don't want him to walk yet but I know it will happen.

We where invited to Byran's bosses house for Thanksgiving so we are not going to be alone. I know what you are thinking, but we are really close to his boss. He only has 5 people working for him so Byran's work dose things together a lot. I am excited to be going somewhere that is not a restraint.

Alone for the holidays

This week Edison and I have been sick, now Byran has caught it. We are trying to work on the house but when we don't feel good it is really hard to be motivated. We would like to be moved in by Christmas, but I don't think that is going to happen. My sister and mom are coming back to California after Christmas so I hope that we can get this done.

This is the first Thanksgiving that Byran and I are going to be spending alone. We have either gone to a family friends house or family has come to us. This is going to be so hard for me. I wish I could have family but I know that it is not going to happen. I am not sure how people spend the holidays alone. We did spend last Christmas with out family but I was in labor at the hospital. My mom was not there because my grandpa and just died. I am glad that we are going home this year. Edison gets to spend his first Christmas and birthday with family. I hope that everyone has a great holiday.

My favorite musicals

I love to Liston to music, especially musicals. So because I could not think of anything else to write about I am going to list my favorites.

1.You're a good man Charlie Brown. I saw this before I was married and just loved it. I listened to it so much that my brothers and sisters love it to, even the 23 year old.

2.Les Miserables. I really like the copy of the In Concert cast. I have never seen this but there is always tomorrow.

3.Phantom of the Opera. Who does not like this musical? I have seen this twice in Salt Lake City and I love the movie. This is the musical that started it all. I heard it and saw how powerful the music was and I was hooked.

4.Into the Woods. The High School put this on and I loved it. This is another one of my family's favorite.

5. Ragtime. This is my absolute favorite. If I had to just choose just one, this would be it. Byran took me to see it when we were dating and wow. It was just so powerful that Byran fell in love with it too. I wish that it was still touring.

6. Legally Blonde the Musical. I saw this on MTV when it was on and it so funny. I would love to see it live.

If you ask anyone in my family they all know that I love music. If I can, there is music playing in the background. My brothers and sisters have learned to love most of these musicals.

I love my grandparents

He are some pictures of Edison's grandparent's. They could not get enough of him when we where in Utah. For my parents Edison is the first grandchild and for Byran's parents he his the fifth. I think that no mater how my grand kids there are they are all love the same. My mom has 26+ pictures of Edison just in the living room. She loves to show him him off, Of course what grandparent dose not want to show them off.

Silly Uncle

I have so many fun videos and pictures from Utah. I have to start with this. My brother Scott gave Edison a sucker and this is what happened. I think it is funny, so I had to share.

Long and lonly nights

It is 11 pm on a Friday and Byran is still at work. When he is working an a project
and gets on a roll he does not like to leave. He is a graphic designer and likes to get his web sits done ASAP. These are the night I dread. I hate going to bed alone and it makes it worse now that I have a child.

My friend works 24 hour shifts and leaves his wife alone. I don't think I could ever do that. I think that Sarah is very strong to let her husband do that. I have spent one night alone in my house with out Byran but I have left him many more times.

Well, here are to long nights without Byran.

Home Sweet Home

I am back in California. I had such a great time visiting mine and Byran's family's. I was in Utah for one week and that was not enough time to do everything. I was able to visit with some old friends, some I have not seen in years. I went and saw my grandparents. And had a few party's with the in-laws. Everyone was just head over heals for Edison. My family would not put him down.

I wish Byran was able to come with me to Utah more often, but he has less time to take off. Now I have a list of things that have backed up here at home. Don't you just love how much there is to do after a vacation?

We will be headed back to Utah for Christmas, our first one there in 2 years. It will be nice to get to spend a holiday with family. I will get some pictures up when I get them on the computer.

Road trip

Well tomorrow is the big day, I am driving to Utah. It will take me about 12 hours. I am going with Byran's bosses wife. She has a 2 year old son, so this should be fun. I am really excited to see my family. Michelle (Byran's bosses wife) is going to drop me off in Pleasant Grove where my eagerly waiting mom and dad will pick me up.

I hope that this will be a smooth drive. Edison is a great traveling baby. He loves car rides. It will just be hard because I am not going with Byran and I don't have much control over the car.

Well if I don't blog in the next week or so you know I am having to much fun. I will try to write.

Time to play

Edison has this game he likes to play with me. I will give him a toy and he drops it. When I hand it back to him he drops it again. He thinks this is so funny. He is really starting to understand how to play.

Edison and I are going to Utah next week and I know both my parents and Byran's parents are going to have a fun time playing with him. I can't wait to see all the people who are in my parents ward. It is going to be great.

How time flies

I was looking at my pictures today and I can't believe how big Edison is. I seems just like yesterday that he was born. He is crawling everywhere and getting in to everything. Last night Byran could not believe how fast Edison was.

Now he is setting up on his own.

Disneyland

On Saturday Edison and I went to Disneyland with some friends. This was his second time going. He did not last long, but we where able to do a few things. We went on the Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruse and a few at California Adventure.

Disneyland was all decked out for Halloween. I have never been there for that. It was so cute. I recommend going for Halloween because they really change the park.

I am Lucky that I am able to take him to places that we might not have been able to do if we lived in Utah.

Trying to crawl

Edison is trying to crawl. He wants to be moble but he also finds it hard. He is also always tring to get up on his feet. Byran is very excited about this. Now we need to baby proof our home.

9 month checkup

This week Edison had his 9 month checkup. He had a shot, a TB test and had to have his blood drawn. I could not watch for any of them. When he went to get his blood drown I made Byran go with him. He screamed, they could not find a vain. I knew it would be hard but when you hear your child crying and can't help your heart just brakes.

This week has been nice a warm. It makes me think "...where is Fall?". This is the time of year that I miss living in Utah. There is one good thing about California, Disneyland is only 20 mins away. Edison and I will be going this weekend with a friend.

Sunday, September 30, 2007

hot hot hot!

It has been so warm here we have let Edison be in just a diaper. We put him in PJ's before he goes to bed. My boss thinks babies look cuter in just diapers.

I am excited because I get to go to Utah in 3 weeks. I am very excited to see my family and friends. It will just be Edison and I. Byran gets to say here. He has to work and save up his vacation for Christmas.

Friday, September 28, 2007

mmmm..good

Sometimes when you try to feed your child you get more food on there face then in there mouth. Edison just loves the camera. He will laugh and smile big.

Monday, September 24, 2007

Playing with Daddy

Byran is not able to spend much time with Edison during the week. So when he does he gets down on the floor and plays with him. What dad wouldn't. I love it when they spend there father son time together. Sometimes it is the one time of day I get a brake. I do love spending time with Edison, but there are those days that he wants to be held 24/7.

I am so grateful that I am married to such a wonderful man. I do not know what I would do without him.

Oh how I miss the D.I.

When we went to Utah, last May, we picked up a few toys at the D.I. I bought some interlocking foam 'tiles' that have numbers and letters on them.

We got them out a few days ago to see if Edison would play with them. He pulls them apart and makes a big mess. Byran is having fun with them too. He is making cubes for Edison to play with.

I wish we had a D.I. close and as nice as the ones in Utah. We do have some Salvation Armys, but they are more expensive and their stuff is not as nice.

Every time we go back to Utah we have to visit the D.I. Byran will bring home $20 worth of odd stuff, even if he doesn't need it, and tells me he just has to have it. I just laugh at him and tell him that we don't need anything else. Someday he will have to learn that he has to pass up a 'good deal'.

Edison is trying to crawl, but all he can do right now is scoot backwards.

Swimming 101

It was a nice day on Saturday. Not to hot and not to cold. So what better thing to do then swim. We have a pool at our apartment and we waited a little to late in the year to use it. It is starting to cool down at night and that is the only time we can all go swimming together. Edison loves the water, you would think that he would scream. He hits the water and kicks his feet. This is one reason I love to be a parent. It makes up for all those long nights without sleep.

Friday, September 14, 2007

Oh, how cute.

We just thought that this was so cute. I love it when Edison finds something new.

Thursday, September 13, 2007

Where does the time go?

My life is not that exciting but Byran wants me to keep posting.

Edison is growing so fast I wonder where the time has gone. It seemed like yesterday that I found out I was going to have a baby. Edison is getting his first tooth and can sit up on his own. Soon he will be crawling and I am not looking forward to that. Our house is nowhere near ready for that. His hair is also turning light red. I have no idea where that came from. I'm blond and Byran has brown hair.

I hope that as I write this my family and friends are getting to know us a little better. We live so far away from everyone that it is really hard on us. Please let me know what you think of the blog.

Heat wave

It has so hot this past week in Southern California. We have been over 100 degrees. I am so glad it is cooling down. We have been swimming almost every night this week. Edison is enjoying it so much. I think he is a natural born swimmer. Thank goodness that our apartment has a pool.

We have the opportunity to rent a house but that means our rent will go up $200. I know that it does not seem like much but when you are already paying over $1000.00 for an apartment then $200 is a lot of money. I would be right next to work so our gas bill will go down. It is a hard choice for us to make. We would be leaving a Ward we love and some friends we have just made. We will be doing a lot of praying in the next few weeks.

Saturday, September 1, 2007

I could just eat you up!

People always say "Oh, he is so cute I could just eat him up". As you can see Byran tried. He loves being a dad and spending time with Edison. I think he is the best dad ever.

Busy weekend

My mom and younger sister came to visit over the weekend. It was so nice having some family here in California. My mom would not put Edison down.

Hannah celebrated her birthday here.

Hannah bought Edison this cute shirt.

We went to the San Diego Temple on Saturday.

Comming to visit.

At this moment my mom and sister are on there way to come and visit me. I am so excited. I think that having to wait is the hardest part. My mom is so excited to see Edison. It will be so great to see both of them. When I have some pictures I will post them.

So cute

I was going threw my pictures today and saw this one. It is one of my favorite pictures of Byran and Edison. As I looked at this picture I remember how lucky I am to be married to such a great man and have such a cute kid.

Harry Potter Midnight Party

July 20th, 2007 was a long day. I got up early to wait in line, then stayed up late for the last Harry Potter book. I am so excited to have it. I have not finished it but now that i have a child i do not have as much time to read.

I had so much fun at the midnight party. Byran on the other hand found a chair and a stack of computer books to read. We were at Barnes and Noble for 5 hours just to wait for one little book. I don't think I will ever do that again. I will let you all know if I liked it or not. But I will not be telling you how it ends. You will just have to read it for yourselves.

You say tomato, I say tomato.

[rant]

Funny, I've lived in Utah most of my life and I don't remember the soda vs. pop topic ever coming up. If someone said pop, soda, etc. no one cared. They knew what you meant. Not until I moved to California did people criticize me for calling it 'pop'. Apparently..."In California, we call it soda". Wow...sorry. I didn't mean to offend you.

Why is important that I use the word you prefer? Am I confusing you? Do I make you feel uncomfortable? Is this triggered by some repressed memory you have as a child? ...Maybe "pop" is part of some Communist plot. I'm not sure.

I understand that communication is important in our lives. I just can't invent words and expect you to understand them. But, if you understand the term I just used, is it necessary to correct the term to one more of your liking or to harass me for using that term? What's the point? What is accomplished?

[/rant]

[note]

I have nothing against California. It's a great place with some of the nicest complete strangers I've ever met. This post is about people that can't get it past themselves that not everyone thinks, acts, sounds, talks, looks like they do, then treats those people like they are "different".

Oh yeah, I'm a hypocrite myself sometimes.

Only 7 hours to go before Harry Potter

Ok, so after being up all night at the Dodgers game last night, we got up bright and early to wait in line to get a wrist band for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

As you can tell Edison did not care and Byran really did not want to be there. He was only there because he loves me so much and he has already read the ending. Yes, he got on the Internet and found the copy that was leaked and read only the important parts (view spoilers). I told him that if he said anything to me about what happens that he would not see the light of day. But back to waiting in line. I was able to get the "A" wrist band and that means I will be one of the fist in line tonight. I am just so excited. I will let you all know how the book goes.

Ward night at a Dodgers game

During the summer our ward gets tickets to the LA Dodgers. We are really lucky to see some great games. On this night we where able to see the New York Mets.

This was Edison's first game. He was ok for the first part but once he became tired he hated it. He tried to sleep but each time the Dodgers got a hit the crowd cheered and it woke him up.

I am not one for Baseball but the atmosphere is great. I think it is something everyone should try.

On a related note. Our friend, Issac Goeckeritz, once made a short film: Evening at Dodger Stadium. It's a great piece of art that really gets you in the mood of "a relaxing summer night at the game".

Go check out his work.

Edison's new toy

Edison is getting to the point to where he wants to sit up all the time so we go him bouncer. He has so much fun in it. Byran will sit and play with him, spinning the toys and making all kinds of noise. We are so lucky to have Edison in our lives. I am just so glad that he is not walking yet. I can still keep track of him and he is not getting into everything.

4th of July Week

So, over the 4th of July week my family came from Utah to visit us. Edison went to the beach for the first time and he loved it. Grandma Olsen would not put him down. He was so spoiled, but what could we do.
