Before the Rave
At the Rave
After the Rave
July 20th, 2007 was a long day. I got up early to wait in line, then stayed up late for the last Harry Potter book. I am so excited to have it. I have not finished it but now that i have a child i do not have as much time to read.
I had so much fun at the midnight party. Byran on the other hand found a chair and a stack of computer books to read. We were at Barnes and Noble for 5 hours just to wait for one little book. I don't think I will ever do that again. I will let you all know if I liked it or not. But I will not be telling you how it ends. You will just have to read it for yourselves.

Funny, I've lived in Utah most of my life and I don't remember the soda vs. pop topic ever coming up. If someone said pop, soda, etc. no one cared. They knew what you meant. Not until I moved to California did people criticize me for calling it 'pop'. Apparently..."In California, we call it soda". Wow...sorry. I didn't mean to offend you.
Why is important that I use the word you prefer? Am I confusing you? Do I make you feel uncomfortable? Is this triggered by some repressed memory you have as a child? ...Maybe "pop" is part of some Communist plot. I'm not sure.
I understand that communication is important in our lives. I just can't invent words and expect you to understand them. But, if you understand the term I just used, is it necessary to correct the term to one more of your liking or to harass me for using that term? What's the point? What is accomplished?

I have nothing against California. It's a great place with some of the nicest complete strangers I've ever met. This post is about people that can't get it past themselves that not everyone thinks, acts, sounds, talks, looks like they do, then treats those people like they are "different".
Oh yeah, I'm a hypocrite myself sometimes.

Ok, so after being up all night at the Dodgers game last night, we got up bright and early to wait in line to get a wrist band for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
As you can tell Edison did not care and Byran really did not want to be there. He was only there because he loves me so much and he has already read the ending. Yes, he got on the Internet and found the copy that was leaked and read only the important parts (view spoilers). I told him that if he said anything to me about what happens that he would not see the light of day. But back to waiting in line. I was able to get the "A" wrist band and that means I will be one of the fist in line tonight. I am just so excited. I will let you all know how the book goes.
During the summer our ward gets tickets to the LA Dodgers. We are really lucky to see some great games. On this night we where able to see the New York Mets.
This was Edison's first game. He was ok for the first part but once he became tired he hated it. He tried to sleep but each time the Dodgers got a hit the crowd cheered and it woke him up.
I am not one for Baseball but the atmosphere is great. I think it is something everyone should try.
On a related note. Our friend, Issac Goeckeritz, once made a short film: Evening at Dodger Stadium. It's a great piece of art that really gets you in the mood of "a relaxing summer night at the game".
Edison is getting to the point to where he wants to sit up all the time so we go him bouncer. He has so much fun in it. Byran will sit and play with him, spinning the toys and making all kinds of noise. We are so lucky to have Edison in our lives. I am just so glad that he is not walking yet. I can still keep track of him and he is not getting into everything.
So, over the 4th of July week my family came from Utah to visit us. Edison went to the beach for the first time and he loved it. Grandma Olsen would not put him down. He was so spoiled, but what could we do.
So, last night I downloaded 'acquired' a leaked copy (photos of all pages) of the 7th Harry Potter book. I will probably never read it but I wanted to find out who killed who and what not.
Oh yeah if you don't want to see spoilers, don't click the link.
Well...we've jumped on the blogging band-wagon. We're now 'hip and cool'. We thought it would be nice if we kept our family and friends updated on our lives here in
Byran, Diana & Edison
